About Us
Valley Escape - Our Story
More than just an Escape Room
Valley Escape was born out of a simple idea: that the Swansea Valley deserved somewhere fun to go.
We opened our doors in June 2022, tucked behind the Cwmtwrch Welfare Hall on the A4068, and we've been welcoming players ever since. From the beginning we've operated as a non-profit — keeping prices as low as possible, reinvesting everything we earn into improving the experience, and donating to causes that matter to our community.
Our Story
The Beginning
Our launch coincided with the Welsh Government's Summer of Fun scheme. We offered 30 free sessions during the school holidays and they were snapped up almost immediately. Over 100 young people from the local area took part, playing in teams with friends and family, solving puzzles, working together and having a brilliant time.
That response told us everything we needed to know. There was a real appetite for this kind of experience in the valley, and we've been building on it ever since.
Community and education
We quickly discovered that our puzzles connect naturally with the school curriculum — literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, teamwork and coordination are all woven into the game. Teachers began asking whether we could bring school groups in, and we've been developing that side of things ever since, offering subsidised rates for educational visits and adapting elements of the room for different age groups and subjects.
If you're a teacher interested in bringing a group, we'd love to hear from you.
Run by volunteers
Valley Escape is run entirely by a small team of volunteers who give their time because they believe in what we're doing. From designing puzzles and hosting games to welcoming players and maintaining the experience, every part of Valley Escape is shaped by people who care deeply about the project and the community around it. We're always delighted to hear from anyone who'd like to be part of the journey. To get involved with hosting games or helping with marketing, design or maintenance, please get in touch.
